The Nikkei 225 (日 経 平均 株 価 Nikkei Heikin kabuka?, 日 経 225) is a stock market index for the Tokyo Stock Exchange (Tokyo Stock Exchange – TSE). It has been calculated daily by the newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei) since 1950. This index is the weighted average price (in yen), and once a year in retrospect components. At this time the Nikkei average index Japanese equities is the most widely cited, as likewise with the Dow Jones Industrial Average in the United States. Even before between 1975-1985, the Nikkei 225 was known as “the Dow Jones Nikkei Stock Average”.
The Nikkei 225 began to be calculated on 7 September 1950, the previous data is calculated backward up to the date May 16, 1949.
The Nikkei 225 Futures, introduced at Singapore Exchange from Exchange (SGX) in 1986, the Osaka Securities Exchange (OSE) in 1988, and in Chicago Trade Exchange (CME) in 1990, now has become a term index is internationally recognized.
We will conduct one workshop about exploring into Nikkei 225 index futures.
